Lakeshore Energy Capital, LLC

In 2012, Lakeshore Energy Capital, (LEC) based in Chicago, IL, was formed as a venture capital company, focusing on facilitating capital raises for smaller sized companies who’s equity needs are in $500k to $10M range.

LEC’s first investment was in 2012, raising $5.5M of equity for Best Well Service (an oil field service company) out of Tulsa Oklahoma. In 2013, LEC funded $500,000 into Block26, a Los Angeles based start up company that identifies investment opportunities in the exploding field of block chain technology. In 2015, LEC led a raise of $450,000 for Airbitz, out of San Diego CA, assisting their efforts as they become a premier player in building decentralized security and authentication software for mobile app creators.

In 2016, LEC acquired a 40% stake in Big Iron, an Oklahoma based steel fabrication company, and $400k into an oil field equipment leasing company based in Tulsa, OK.

 

Currently, LEC is building a JV partnership with Real Capital Solutions out of Louisville Colorado, to put $10M of new equity to work in the oil and gas business in the Mid-Continent area.

Tom Kivisto | Director

Tom Kivisto worked for Koch Industries for 15 years. Became Executive Vice President of Koch’s Crude Oil Marketing in 1981. He oversaw the collection, purchasing, and marketing of more than 440,000 barrels per day. He was lead on several multi million dollar acquisitions that help assist Koch to become the leading independent crude oil buyer in N. America.  

 

Tom left Koch in 1993 to form his own crude oil marketing firm, Eaglwing Trading. Subsequently in 2000, Mr. Kivisto co-founded SemGroup, LP (“SemGroup”).  Under Kivisto’s leadership SemGroup made more than 45 acquisitions (over $100M) and had a total asset growth from $222.4 million in 2000 to more than $4.2 billion at year-end 2006.  In 2006, Forbes Magazine ranked SemGroup 5th in its list of America’s Largest Private Companies.  Additionally, in 2006, SemGroup had more than 34.1 million barrels of owned and/or leased storage.   

 

Besides serving on the board of his own companies, Tom has served on the Board of Directors for such entities as Bank of Oklahoma, St. Francis Health Care Systems, as well having served as a trustee for the University of Tulsa.

 

Since 2013, Tom has started Lakeshore Energy Capital with investments in oil and gas, Lakeshore EC II; a large equipment leasing company, Airbitz; a blockchain focused start up company in San Diego; Best Well Service in Tulsa, OK, and various smaller strong management businesses looking for growth capital to expand. 

Ana M. Hollinger | Partner

Ana Hollinger brings 30 years of experience within the corporate banking and real estate markets, as well as, participating and serving as board leadership in start-up and private investments. As a Partner of Lakeshore Energy Capital, she also serves as Director of Business Development for Block 26.  Within both firms, her core responsibilities include marketing, business development, investor relations, due diligence, and financing. Based in Los Angeles, Ana is actively involved with Silverlake Conservatory of Music, LACMA, Broad Museum, Hammer Museum, Art of Elysian, and the David Lynch Foundation.
